Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a Senior System Design Engineer to join our Motor Drive System (MDS) team at Volvo Group. What you will do

As a Senior System Design Engineer within the Motor Drive System (MDS) team with expertise within embedded software, you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of software solutions for our electric vehicle systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze system challenges and identify the best solutions to meet project needs.

Your expertise in system and software development, along with your problem-solving skills, will be essential in driving our projects to success.

your work tasks will include:
  • Collaborating across teams to develop robust and scalable solutions for electric drivetrains.
  • Driving continuous improvement and technical innovation.
  • Conducting system simulations, model development, and data analysis to optimize performance.
  • Defining and managing system-level requirements, including functional safety and SFMEA and ensure compliance with system certification and cybersecurity standards.

Who are you?
We are looking for an open-minded and solution-oriented team player eager to grow both technically and personally. You are adaptable, communicative, and skilled at prioritizing tasks. With strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, you confidently lead discussions, make informed decisions, and collaborate effectively.

Your ability to break down complex system challenges and find innovative solutions makes you an asset to the team.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the automotive industry, particularly in embedded software development
  • Strong system knowledge of electric vehicle architectures
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development tools
  • Experience in full vehicle installation and adaptation
  • Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and FMEAs

Proficiency in English, both spoken and written

Preferred Experience:
  • Simulation model development in Plecs and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Previous experience within the Volvo Group
