Lighting Technician / Gaffer

We are looking for a Lightning Technician / Gaffer for a 9 month´s temporary assignment.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of IKEA Marketing & Communication where you will be a key player in our physical Studio production. Here, no day looks like the other and it will give you a unique opportunity to work with our creative teams in different film and photo assignments.
As the Lightning Technician / Gaffer, you will be an essential part of the Studio team. You will support the production team before, during and after the shoot (film & photo).
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Support the production team (e.g Photographer, Motion Producer), during shoot with creative solutions, act as sounding board to achieve the desired effect and vision.
- Prepare and setup the relevant lighting equipment in studio or on location, including the placement of set and angles of lights based on the set's layout, size and the camera's positioning.
- Collaborate with other departments during the whole chain of production (pre-production, production and post-production) to ensure a cohesive visual style.
- Handle lighting equipment with proper care and logistics depending on the prerequisites, ensure it´s working and operating correctly, maintaining it and changing it before, during and after the shoot as necessary.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspect and oversee health and safety in relation to lighting equipment. This includes making small reparations/services, sending to repair shop or order replacements when applicable.
- Keep up to date with new photo, motion, light, technical equipment and trends.
- Participate actively in finding creative and efficient solutions regarding new ways of working and improved workflows.
- Education and/or solid experience in photography, film and different production methods.
- Expertise in setting light, based on image composition; cropping, angle, brief.
- Knowledge in different types of photo and lighting equipment and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Driving license B.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Organized and structured, able to manage heavy workloads during peak production periods and tight timelines.
- Ability to cooperate with the team but also to work independently.
- Understanding of architecture, home furnishing and how this influences the lighting in the images.
