About this opportunity:

EU Cloud RAN is the organization within Ericsson that develops and release our Cloud based RAN solutions. We’re delivering live systems for general use as well as trials to explore and help transform the telecom business into a cloud-based operations model.

We’re also evolving our system architecture and ways of working to match this transformation. Our current solutions are built around the virtual node concept with a v CU, two different v DU:s and App SS built on the ADP platform. The v CU currently consists of both the Control plane (CU-CP) and the User plane (CU-UP) but it is our ambition to transform our system architecture, modularizing the system to identify smaller, individual services/applications that can have separate LCM.

In this journey, the Cell handling, Ue handling, Configuration handling, Network interfaces handling, and the Packet processing, are components that we aim to separate out. General characteristics and release handling are done on the v CU CSAR (delivery package), though, including the App SS services.

In the CU-CP, most of our code is shared with MS-RBS within the RC function. This sharing is based on Inner Source principles and coownership.

What you will do:

  • As unit manager of the CP3 unit, PEU v CU CU-CP Services in EU Cloud RAN, it is your responsibility to act as owner for the Traffic Control SW Config Domain and microservices.
  • You will lead two development teams, one being the TC SW Config domain responsible team, and the other one being the microservice responsible team for the FEP within CM. You will also have the Config domain architect for Cloud RAN deployment in the unit to be able to investigate and define the architectural journey of the Configuration Management and Capacity and anchor those in the CU- and RCF Techno.
  • You will also be responsible for SW quality, general performance and handling of technical debt in your unit. The Configuration Management area covers the configuration handling and distribution of configuration data. In a cloud environment the number of cells and links will scale up significantly, which add new requirements on performance, footprint, and capacity in a cloud deployment. Cloud related aspects as resilience, scalability, LCM (e.g. In Service SW Upgrade) as well as footprint will be important. You will report to the head of v CU CU-CP Services and be part of the unit’s leadership team.
  • You are a structured person with experience from product development in general. You are familiar with the different tasks involved in product development and value the developer experience (DX) for your teams.
  • SW craftmanship and design ownership comes easy, and you recognize the needed steps and measures to uphold good SW quality and product integrity.

The skills you bring:

  • Proven leadership with a track record of enabling change Passion for identifying new ways of working (continuous improvements).
  • Understanding of customers and competitor situations.
  • At least 5 years work experience in telecommunication and/or cloud.
