UX/UI Designer Trainee
Kickstart your career in UX/UI design consulting
We're looking for soon-to-be graduates who want to make a real business impact through technology. The Columbia Road Associate Program is a one-year, part-time trainee program designed to offer hands-on experience in client work and support professional growth. You’ll work side by side with experienced consultants, solving real-life business problems using modern technologies – and having fun while doing it.
Who we are
Columbia Road was founded in 2016 to challenge the old ways of doing digital business. Our mission is to help companies sell better in the digital era. We focus on measurable results – not just building IT systems – using a mix of software development, design, marketing, strategy, and data engineering.
We’re a community-led company, built on trust, transparency, and a low hierarchy. Everyone here has a voice in company-wide decisions. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of who we are. We’re proud of our 4.6/5 rating on Glassdoor – and always looking to do even better.
Requirements
What you’ll do:
As a UX/UI Associate Designer, you’ll help shape digital products and services from early ideas to launch and iteration. Your work will include:
- Understanding user needs and business goals through research and collaboration
- Prioritising use cases and features, mapping user flows, and testing concepts
- Designing wireframes, mockups and prototypes in tools like Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD
- Working closely with developers to bring your designs to life
We don’t expect you to code, but if you do, that’s a bonus. Similarly, if you have experience in marketing, that’s a great plus – many of our projects sit at the intersection of design, development, and digital marketing, so understanding the broader context adds real value.
You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across design, development, marketing and strategy – and engage directly with clients and their users. You’ll be given real responsibility from day one, backed by the support of senior designers and consultants.
